In recent news, The Water Authority is trying to flush out a stinky situation in the North Valley.
The Water Authority described the smell. "It is a very unpleasant rotten egg smell," said David Morris, with the Water Authority. People who lived the odor explained it differently. "It should be condemned it smells so bad," one resident said. "It will start filling up this room just like I was in an outside toilet."On Tuesday, neighbors, including hospice patient Priscilla Chavez, said the summer has been a smelly one on Chavez Road."The sewage tends to flow a lot slower than it would elsewhere," Chavez said.
On Wednesday, the Water Authority said the flat sewer line causes the sewage to not move through the area as quickly, but right now workers are trying to change that.
"We are actually increasing the flow to this area to make it speed up to see if that would help the problem," Morris said. By turning some valves the Water Authority can do that. They also plan to pour in some hydrogen peroxide and that's not all. "The Water Authority is going to open up this manhole and put monitors inside to measure the gas levels to see if they are irregular. Also, they are going to rely on the residents in this area to tell them if the smell is going away," Morris said. "We would hope that they would see fairly immediate results from the things we are taking, say within a day or so." If not, the Water Authority said it has some other ideas and they won't stop till they fix this.

The importance of this situation is that durig the summer people should be able to go outside and enloy the summers fresh air not the sewege smll.Plus the smell is poluting the atmohsphere in which we have air and we need to live off of.I'am glad that they are fixing it. BY.TIANA ENCINIAS PER.4TH
ReplyDeleteI think its a good thing that the Water Authority is trying to fix this problem. people should be able to go out and swim or wash laundry without having that sewege smell. I personally think they should get rid of this problem immediately it's been going on for quite some time now. Water is an essential and it would be nice if we could have our dishes smelling nice instead of that awful smell.

This sounds like a fairly critical situation. They need to take care of this as soon as possible. This situation is not as serious as the oil spill or the war, but it is definitely something they need to take care of. It's already affecting the way the residents live. They should feel comfortable where they live not revolted. I'm glad to hear the Water Authority is trying to make things better.
ReplyDeleteAlthough our government is dealing with serious issues at the moment such as unemployment, I believe that the Water Authority should resolve this issue as soon as possible. The residents in the North Valley, and more specifically Chavez Road, have had to take thier showers, wash thier dishes and thier laundry in this never ending sewage smell which could perhaps affect thier health. The Water Authority should try to take care of this problem immediately.

I think that the Water Authority should resolve this as soon as possible because it is affecting the people who live in that area. I, personally, know I would not want to live in my own home with a horrid stink. I don't think that anybody should have to live with that or if they do they shouldn't have to live with it for all that long. Usually in your own home you should be comfortable and I don't think that they are with the smell. I think that the Water Authority should take care of the problem as quickly as possible.

I think that it is a good thing that the Water Authority is trying to fix the problem. The horrible smell can make someone fill sick. Plus, this odor affects their everyday lives. It’s probably worse for them in the summer heat. For them their water wont be as refreshing. I know I definitely wouldn’t want to live like that. The Water Authority should handle the situation fast. ReplyDeleteI think that they should of had fixed this sooner, if it has been smelling that bad the whole summer it sould have been done as soon as people complained. It may not be as urgent but it could affect someones health living arround that much sewage.

I think that the Water Authority should of really taken this problem seriously and have fixed it right away. No one enjoys the nasty smell of the sewage and it could be disturbing for a lot of people. The people who live on Chavez Road probably felt sick and uncomfortable living there with a stink that was there for the whole summer. I know that i would'nt stand living with a rotten smell of the sewage.

I think that the Water Authority should have done something about the smell when people started complaining about it. I am sure that no one would want to smell that for a whole summer. It could also be causing pollution and be hazardous to everyones health. I think that they should take care of it immediately.

I think that the Water Authority should solve the problem as soon as possible because it has been smelling for a while. And its gross for people to go swim, fishing, or drink of that water.

I think that the city should take care of that immediately, because that smell is annoying for people who camp close to the lakes and rivers.
