Homework Blog #8

You have learned about the Great Depression and it's effects on American life during the 1930s. In your readings you have learned about programs such as the New Deal which helped to get us out of the depression. Currently America is facing a recession that is similarly hurting Americans and American businesses. FDR implemented ideas that changed our government into a Social Democracy. These ideas such as welfare and social security are still around and still help Americans out. My question to you is, what can we do to get us out of this recession? Should we bring back some more of the New Deal programs we had in the 30s? There is no quick fix for this problem but there are ideas out there that can aid in making our economy stable again. Give me your ideas and opinions.

Homework Blog # 7

In recent news, long time Mayor of Albuquerque Martin Chavez was defeated by Richard Berry in the 2009 Mayoral Election. Mr. Berry stated that he has a lot of new plans for the Duke City."We're going to work on transportation, we're going to work on infrastructure. Try to get some of those dollars back for quality-of-life projects. And we're going to really crack down on crime," Berry said. With that said, what would you like to see done here in Albuquerque that you feel will improve quality of life and make the city better overall?
