You have learned about the Great Depression and it's effects on American life during the 1930s. In your readings you have learned about programs such as the New Deal which helped to get us out of the depression. Currently America is facing a recession that is similarly hurting Americans and American businesses. FDR implemented ideas that changed our government into a Social Democracy. These ideas such as welfare and social security are still around and still help Americans out. My question to you is, what can we do to get us out of this recession? Should we bring back some more of the New Deal programs we had in the 30s? There is no quick fix for this problem but there are ideas out there that can aid in making our economy stable again. Give me your ideas and opinions.

In recent news, long time Mayor of Albuquerque Martin Chavez was defeated by Richard Berry in the 2009 Mayoral Election. Mr. Berry stated that he has a lot of new plans for the Duke City."We're going to work on transportation, we're going to work on infrastructure. Try to get some of those dollars back for quality-of-life projects. And we're going to really crack down on crime," Berry said. With that said, what would you like to see done here in Albuquerque that you feel will improve quality of life and make the city better overall?

A dozen special shapes held up in inner Mongolia. "Darth Vader," "Nelly-B," and "Sunny Boy" are just a few of the special shapes balloons that might be missing from this year's Fiesta. About a dozen special shape balloons well known to Balloon Fiesta-goers are stuck in Beijing, China—nearly two months after they flew in a balloon festival in inner Mongolia, according to KOB-Tv. In New Mexico during the next two months we will be seeing a lot events taking place. Next week the burning of Zozobra will take place at our state capital. New Mexicans will spend their hard earned cash to attend the amazing NM State Fair next week as well. Tourist will flock to Albuquerque's International Balloon Fiesta in October. All of these events will bring many people to the state. With tourist flocking to this area money will be spent like crazy. This money circulates right into New Mexicans wallet. Think about it, these people will need a place to stay, places to eat, will shop for souvenirs, and pay for entertainment. Therefore, all these New Mexican companies will make money and pay their workers. Workers will then spend the money around the area as well, creating a huge monetary cycle. However, some New Mexicans think it is just a thorn in the side. They hate having to deal with traffic, waiting in lines at restaurants, and having to cater to the tourist. My question to you is, do you think that having these events in New Mexico is really helping us or is it a pain for us to deal with? Please respond in a short paragraph.

The state of New Mexico has been adamant in informing it's citizens of the dangers of the H1N1 virus (swine flu). Schools have expressed their concerns on the topic as well. They have put up flyers reminding students to wash their hands and cough into their sleeves. H1N1 is a flu virus that has no flu shot available to the public currently. The earliest that the government can get this to us is by December. Flu seasons starts in September. How should the state of New Mexico handle these cases and how should the H1N1 flu shots be distributed? Please answer this in a short paragraph.

The state of New Mexico is heading in a "Green" direction. PNM is continuing with their "Blue Skies" program which offers electricity through wind power. The state is also sanctioning more wind turbines to be built and a clean coal facility is in the works. In Bernalillo County, new home builders are offering "Green" housing, which will focus on home being more "energy efficient." What are your thoughts about New Mexico trying to pave the way for other states, being the "Green" state?
